Many popular MMOs got Player Housing in a patch and/or expansion, a while after the game released. Usually, when a game gets popular enough, housing enters one. Being as popular as this game is, will we see Player Housing anytime soon? If some people worry about space, then there could be apartment buildings (with medieval-looking architecture, of course), or even apartment labyrinths. Yes, underground living spaces would be an uber solution in a game with finite land space. The housing system should also make available different ranges of apartments, from an economy-sized Dorm, to something like an opulent Penthouse. Moreover, not only should they cost copious amounts of currency, but rare items would also be an ideal requirement along with the cash. Of course, the more economical the residence, the more common an item should be for item requirements. So, what do you think and what have you heard about housing in WoW?
I dont think there are any plans for housing... I would think a house would cost 10k since an epic mount costs 900g ...
Nah, maybe a mansion-style house would cost as much as 10 epic mounts. An economy-sized dorm may cost as much as 1/10 of an epic mount. I'm sure many players want their own housing in WoW so demand has gotta make supply.
When are we gonna get Battlegrounds, when are we gonna get honor system, when are we gonna get the game they said they were making in beta? who knows. oh yea, when are we gonna get hero classes. Blizzard is kind of slow on putting out content they said they were gonna have from before the game came out. (dont give me anything that says they never did, becuase thats what got me interested in the game) maybe blizzard will realize they are making more money monthly than most games do thier entire life. and start pushing out content to feed the hungry players. (paying players too)

Originally posted by jackman11118The game has been out for 5 months. Also the honor system is coming out with this new patch with other new features. Battlegrounds will come out soon after. Im sure player housing is one of the last things they will do to this game, if they even add it. Hero classes will most likely come out with an expansion. This is the best game out by far, nothing has come close.
I still want the hero classes and battlegrounds which made the game interesting before i played it. how come it takes so long to put in things they were planning years ago?
Originally posted by jackman11118 Whats the rush? The game is still fun and has years of longevity remaining. Battlegrounds will come out sooner or later. Just because they say that certain features will be added does not mean it will be added right away. With everything there is a process, if your not happy with it, then find a new game to play =).
WoW already has Inns, and that's basically all that is needed for resting. Inns actually have a purpose unlike houses which are just storages, not houses. Implementing housing is a waste of resources. They may add it someday, but it should be on the end of priority list.
Originally posted by jackman11118 cause they want to do them right? Anyhow, weren't you playing Matrix Online and left WoW? so what you care?
I still pay for WoW though, i just dont play it. any ways, WoW has the potentional to be a rated 10 game, if it had the stuff they wanted to have in it. it is instead a 8 game becuase there is really nothing to do other than grind and do instances. (which to me is still grinding) theres no social places to do anything, theres really not even places to do pvp other than contested zones which dont work becuase on PvP servers the 60's just gank. battlegrounds and heros classes are going to make me more interested, but without them the game feels incomplete and dull.
Maybe they could use housing as a way to introduce more professions. Say wood gathering and carpenting for example. That way ataining house wouldn't just be a single purchase but rather a goal in in itself. And in order to keep all the professions involved, the leatherworkers could be the ones responsible for making key elements to the furniture. The blacksmiths might make certain pieces needed for structure. The carpenter would make most of the material required to build a house but you would need an engineer to provide the blue prints to the house of your choice. The houses would be in an area that loads up like an instance... therefor it can be as big as needed with no worries in regards to space how does that sound to you guys?
There are many, MANY, more current elements that still need to be implemented before houseing is considered. It was mentioned before about Battlegrounds and Hero classes, Battlegrounds is at least a month away from implimentation at the very soonest and Hero classes don't have a specified projection date other that before the end of Q4 of 2005. Why you ask? The primary reason for this is because when any construct of the game is considered and as well worked on for implimentation it is work in conjunction with 7 different languages and has to be almost exactly the same on each facet. Some may say, well Vivendi is a huge corporation they should be able to do it no prob. Seriously think about it and consider the time that HAS to be spent confering with each area and the planning involved. There are many other reasons aside from that but I will leave it to you to decide your unltimate conclusion upon this. Aside from Battleground and Hero classes being implimented there are still 6 zones that are visible on the world map but are not ventureable. That is excludeing the Malestrom and the satelite islands between the continents! 6! I've been to 4 of them and they are completely blank, they haven't put anything in game that resembles the construct of what the enviroment is supposed to even look like. I just mentioned the Malestrom, that probably won't be put in game for at least a year and that will definitly be an expansion of large proportions. Now consider all that they still have to do from what I just mentioned and try to project a time schedule for completeing each of those elements and at the same creative level that the universe of WoW is. WoW is such a great game in each of it facets because they are willing to take the time it needs to make each element creative, unique, and most importantly fun and addictive. They have rushed many things in this game, but have tried hard not to sacrifice quality.
Essentialy what Dashiz said is how it is they will add tons fo great stuff as mentioned and more pateince wouldnt oyu have it working with least ammount of bugs or would liek liek to play a broken bug ridden rushed shit that takes forever to fix lol. Patence and find ways not to get bored lol everybody youll get bored of anything no matter how good it is its human nature kinda a bad thing if person doesnt realize it. So keep playin WOW cuz the stuff will defently come and defently do play other mmos games etc helps out a lot to diversife what stuff games ya do play. Enjoy whatever your playin
Originally posted by Jaqs All your base are belong to us? Dude! Where are you from? ... kudos on the new language you created ... I read the post 4 times and I think I am starting to understand Maybe it could be implemented in WoW for a new upcoming playable race.
OMG no there are so many other things this game needs first without having to trip over some laggy ugly house constantly while trying to get somewhere or back to your corpse.
Originally posted by shultz It will be shortly after: Shadowbane releases their 10th expansion, Everquest 1 recaptures 95% of the mmorpg market, Gore ousts president Bush Sr. in the 2008 election, and we all are given genetically engineered super monkeys for personal use by the wtfdoIdowithmymoney Gates foundation. People want housing yes but not instanced housing and the currently popular mmorpg worlds simply aren't large enough to support actual player housing. Even real guildhousing (which I think much more likely) won't be around for a long while if at all.
it would be ok to have. | |
How are we on player housing now? Also, what of the hotels in the game? Are there different tiers - from the low-cost podunk fleapits to the high-flying penthouses with your own butler and cook service? |
